Customized 8-day Group Tour through Rome, Assisi, Siena, Florence, Padua, Venice, Verona, Lake Como, Milan, San Marino, Perugia, and back to Rome
Day 1: Rome
After arrival in Rome, our sightseeing tour will take us on a visit to the Vatican and Ancient Rome. Transfer to a selected hotel. (D)
Day 2: Rome – Assisi – Siena – Florence
We leave Rome for lovely walled Assisi, hometown of St. Francis. We visit the St Francis Basilica with early Renaissance masterpieces by Giotto and Cimabue. We continue to Siena, the beautiful medieval city famous for its Romanesque architecture, and then on to glorious Florence. (B, D)
Day 3: Florence
A morning guided sightseeing tour of the cradle of the Renaissance to see its best sights, including the Piazza del Duomo, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Baptistery of St. John and much more. The rest of the day is free for optional sightseeing or shopping. (B, D)
Day 4: Florence – Padua – Venice
We visit fabulous Padua to see the famous Cathedral of St. Anthony, protected by Donatello’s ‘Gattamelata’, then go on to world-famous Venice to enjoy a guided walking tour of this unique city. You will see the stunning St. Mark’s Piazza and Basilica, the Doge’s Palace and the Bridge of Sighs, then visit a glass factory to see glass moulding. (B, D)
Day 5: Venice
After breakfast, a free day to further explore the wonders of Venice, or take an optional tour to the attractive islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello by motor-launch. (B, D)
Day 6: Venice – Verona – Lake Como
Morning departure for spectacular Verona to see the town of Romeo and Juliet, famous for the lovely Piazza delle Erbe, Roman Arena and Castelvecchio Bridge. Our tour then continues to pretty Como on the shore of the lake of the same name. (B, D)
Day 7: Lake Como – Milan – San Marino
Today, we head for beautiful Milan and a panoramic tour of the city’s sights, then on to fascinating medieval Bologna, one of Italy’s most important art cities, with its charming Piazza Maggiore and Piazza del Nettuno. Proceed to San Marino, the world’s oldest independent republic. (B, D)
Day 8: San Marino – Perugia – Rome
We go to Perugia, a charming university town, with a splendid atmosphere, to visit the impressive Cathedral and the Palazzo dei Priori. Proceed to Rome, where our tour comes to an end. (B)
