Day 1: Athens
You will be met and transferred to a selected hotel. Enjoy a ‘welcome’ dinner in a traditional Greek tavern in the old part of Athens, in Plaka. (D)
Day 2: Athens
After breakfast, half-day Athens Sightseeing Tour. Visit the immortal Acropolis, with each architectural masterpiece, the Parthenon, the Erectheum with the Porch of the Meidens, and the Temple of Nike Apertos, Wingless Victory. Below the Acropolis lie the Ancient Agora and the Theaters of Dionyssos and Herodus Atticus.Afternoon free. Afternoon free. (B, D)
Day 3: Athens – Delphi – Kalambaka
Depart for Delphi and visit the Temple of Apollo. Also see the Sacred Way, the Stadium, the Castilian Fountain and the Archaeological Museum. Continue to Kalambaka. (B, D)
Day 4: Kalambaka – Ohrid
After breakfast, climb to the top of the Meteora, known as ‘The rocks that fell from the sky’, where monks built their havens away from civilization. Continue to Ohrid. (B, D)
Day 5: Ohrid – Tirana
Morning sightseeing tour at the lakeside resort of Ohrid, containing some magnificent frescoes from the 10th century including a visit to the Cathedral of St. Sofia. In the early afternoon, we continue towards Tirana, capital of Albania. (B, D)
Day 6: Tirana
Morning sightseeing tour: see the Sheshi Skenderbej, the Palace of Culture and the mosaic on the facade of the National History Museum. Other significant buildings here include the imposing red-brick National Bank, the Ethem Bey Mosque, and the Skanderbeg Statue. Afternoon free. (B, D)
Day 7: Tirana – Dubrovnik
After breakfast, depart for Shkodra, nowdays a major cultural centre. We visit Rozafa Castle, situated on a rocky outcrop of limestone high above the city, before we cross the border into Montenegro and drive via Budva to Dubrovnik. (B, D)
Day 8: Dubrovnik
Morning walking tour of Old Dubrovnik: the Rector’s Palace, Bell Tower clock, Orlando’s Column and the Sponza Palace. You will also see the Dominican monastery and Franciscan monastery with its pharmacy. The rest of the day is free. (B, D)
Day 9: Dubrovnik
Full day at leisure. (B, D)
Day 10: Dubrovnik – Split
Departure north to Split along the spectacular Adriatic coast. Enjoy a city tour, featuring the historic inner city built around the Roman Emperor Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. (B, D)
Day 11: Split – Trogir – Plitvice
After breakfast, we head north along the coast to Trogir. Our journey continues as we turn inland towards the Plitvice Lakes National Park. Upon arrival, we take a walking tour around several of the lower lakes and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of this natural wonder. (B, D)
Day 12: Plitvice – Postojna – Bled
We return to the coast to the beautiful bay of Kvarner and its popular resort, Opatija. Then we head north to Postojna and one of the biggest caves in Europe. Here we tour the fantastic subterranean world by miniature electric train. Afterwards, our journey continues to Bled. (B, D)
Day 13: Bled
Our morning sightseeing tour features the town of Bled, with the lake-shore, and includes a visit to Bled Castle, perched on a cliff high above the lake. The rest of the day is free for optional activities, such as visiting the old church with a collection of religious art on the small island in the middle of the Lake Bled. (B, D)
Day 14: Bled – Ljubljana – Zagreb
We start the day with the tour of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, where we will visit all the most significant sights in the old city centre: the open-air Central Market, Three Bridges, the Baroque Town Hall and Robba’s Fountain. Then proceed to Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. (B, D)
Day 15: Zagreb
This morning enjoy Zagreb, where we visit St. Mark’s Church, St. Catherine’s Church, the Cathedral, the Parliament and the Government Palace. Rest of the day is free to explore the winding streets of the old town. Afterwards, transfer to Zagreb airport. (B, D)
