Day 1 – Saturday: arrival in Reykiavik
Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. The balance of the day is at leisure. Meet your fellow travelers tonight at Welcome reception. Overnight. (WR)
Day 2 – Sunday: Reykjavik through the South Iceland to Selfoss
The day begins with a visit to the Thingvellir National Park – a unique place in the world, being included in the UNESCO heritage. View the European and American tectonic plates, enjoy the impressive nature and the history. We continue to Gullfoss (Golden Waterfall), and at the Great Geysir one of the most important natural attractions of Iceland. We enjoy the lunch at the Fridheimar tomato farm. Overnight. (B,L,D)
Day 3 – Monday: Selfoss to Hvolsvollur and Vik
Today we visit the Lava Center in Hvolsvollur – an interactive, high-tech exhibition. We continue to the beautiful Skogarfoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls. After we visit the black sand beach of Reynisfjara volcanic origin and the impressive rock formations where numerous arctic birds make their nests. Dinner and overnight. (B,D)
Day 4 – Tuesday: Vik to Jokulsarlon and Breiddalsvik
Today we are traveling to the East of the island. On the way we will see the magnificent Fjadrargljufur canyon, stop at the Skaftafell visitor center in the Vatnajokull National Park – the largest national park in Iceland and the second largest in Europe. Afternoon we will take boat ride to the Jokulsárlón Lagoon – where clear water is invaded by blue-white icebergs, detached from Vatnajökull glacier. We continue to fish port of Hofn, the capital of Southeast Iceland, and in the evening, we will arrive at the hotel in Eastfjords area. (B,D)
Day 5 – Wednesday: Breiddalsvik to Akureyri
Departure to Myvatn, and if the weather permits, we will stop at the Krafla caldera with the Leirhnujukur volcano. Today we will see the unique landscape of the Hverir geothermal area, the place where you will feel connected to the power of the planet with a red-orange landscape like on Mars! On the way we stop at Dimmuborgir lava formations, Namaskard thermal spring, Skutustadagigar pseudocraters, Godafoss waterfall, Hverfell mountain. (B)
Day 6 – Thursday: Akureyri to Reykholt
After breakfast we depart to Dalvik/Hjaltery for the Whale Watching. After, continue to Grabrok volcano, where you can have a short hike to the top of the Grabrok crater, from where you will admire a panorama view of the Borgarfjordur area. Continue to your hotel for dinner and overnight. (B,D)
Day 7 – Friday: Reykholt to Reykjavik
Today we will explore the West of Iceland. Deildartunguhver – the largest hot spring in Europe and two of the most spectacular waterfalls: Hraunfossar (Lava waterfall) and Barnafos (Children’s waterfall). We will stop in the picturesque town of Borgarnes. In the afternoon we arrive back to Reykjavik and enjoy the city tour where we can admire the National Cathedral, the emblematic Hallgrimskirkja church, the City Hall, the Parliament building, the Hofdi house, the fish port and Perlan View, for a panorama of Reykjavik and its surroundings. Overnight. (B)
Day 8 – Saturday: departure Reykjavik
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and you will be transfer to Blue Lagoon, a unique place in the world and the biggest tourist attraction in Iceland! Afternoon transfer to the airport. (B)
