  • Day 1, arrive Zagreb, Saturday

    Upon arrival to Zagreb Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel and enjoy some free time to rest.
    Tonight gather in the hotel lobby to meet and greet with your Tour Director, and head to one of the oldest local restaurants in Zagreb for a welcome dinner with folklore performance. After dinner, transfer back to the hotel, or head to explore the Christmas festivities happening around the main city square. (D)

    Day 2, in Zagreb, Sunday

    Today after breakfast, we start our sightseeing of Zagreb. We will visit the historic Upper Town, admire the colorful roof of the St Mark’s Church and the beautiful St. Catherine’s Church nearby. View the Parliament and the Government Palace. We will enjoy a stop for coffee on the street Tkalciceva, famous for its numerous cafes and bars. Here we will blend in with the locals and enjoy the moment. We continue the tour with a visit to the Cathedral, and later on, stroll down to the Ban Jelacic Square to see the Statue of the Ban Jelacic on his horse, and to dive into the Chrisstmas Markets athmospheere. Enjoy a cup of mulled wine, stroll along the Zrinjevac Park and if you wish, go ice skating in the popular Ice Park with a track sorrounding this entire park in the very heart of the city. You can choose to stay in the city on your own, or walk together back to your hotel. Along the way we will view the building of the Croatian National Theatre, the Modern Music Academy, and magnificent white Mimara Museum. The rest of the day is at leisure. (B)

    Day 3, Zagreb – Samobor – Rijeka, Monday

    Today after breakfast we will head toward the cost, but first we stop in Samobor, a gorgeous medieval town situated beneath picturesque hills. Samobor is the favorite getaway for those who live in the city of Zagreb, as well as for those who enjoy the lively atmosphere on the square and fancies the taste of the famous samoborske kremsnite (custard-cream pastry cake). We will walk the streets and squares of Samobor, admire the lovely facades and have a taste of this very special cake (payment on the spot). Later we continue our way toward the cost and arrive our hotel in Rijeka. This afternoon we will discover Rijeka, visit the fortress Trsat and stroll the magic main street ‘Korzo’ while learning the interesting stories about the city from our local guide. After the tour, join your tour manager for a casual stroll and fun at the Rijeka Christmas Markets. Return the hotel later on. (B)

    Day 4, Rijeka – Opatija – Portoroz, Tuesday

    This morning we visit Opatija, only 20 minutes away from Rijeka, the cradle of Croatian tourism, often called "the queen of the Adriatic". We will meet our local guide who will show us the unforgotten glory of the imperial times when Opatija was a famous meeting place for European nobility. We visit the Croatian Museum of Tourism and view the symbol of Opatija, the statue Maiden with the Seagull while we stroll the seaside promenade. You will have some free time to enjoy Opatija before we head toward the Slovenian border and our hotel in Portoroz. This afternoon and evening experience the Slovenian art of spa and relaxation at your hotel. We will gather tonight for a dinner together at the hotel. (B,D)

    Day 5, Portoroz – Piran – Postojna – Ljubljana, Wednesday

    Today after breakfast we will visit Piran, starting from Tartini Square and viewing the Walls of Piran, St George’s Parish Church and many other interesting buildings and sites. Later on we will be back on the coach and on our way to Postojna Cave where we will dive in and explore this mysterious, more than 20 km long Karst cave system, with its great underground galleries and halls. One part of the visit is done by an electric train and a part of it as a guided walking tour. Continue on for a beautiful photo stop and some free time at Predjama Castle. Later on, we head to Ljubljana where we arrive just in time for dinner at our hotel. (B,D)

    Day 6, Ljubljana, Thursday

    This entire day is dedicated to Ljubljana, to discover and enjoy this gorgeous city. First, in the morning we will meet our local guide who will take us around the city, we will walk across the famous Dragon Bridge, through lively squares and streets. Take the cable railway up to Ljubljana Castle and enjoy great views of the city. After the walking tour you will have plenty of free time to have fun in the Christmas Markets, lively with music, street food and various happenings. Your afternoon and evening is free. (B)

    Day 7, Ljubljana – Bled – Bohinj – Ljubljana, Friday

    This morning after breakfast we enjoy a ride to Lake Bled, and we spend the morning getting to know one of the beautiful natural lakes in the world. We visit the iconic Bled Castle, overlooking the lake from a cliff above. Later on, after some free time, we will be on the coach again to visit yet another fabulous lake, the lake Bohinj, less popular, but just as beautiful! Here, we will walk through the woods, breathing in all that fresh air to see the magnificent Savica Waterfall. The hike will be approximately 2 hours. In the afternoon we head back to our hotel in Ljubljana to freshen up before gathering together for a night to remember, a ‘Slovenian dinner’ at a local restaurant, our last, farewell dinner to enjoy and dig in the heritage of this amazing country.     Day 8, depart Ljubljana, Saturday

    This morning transfer to Ljubljana International Airport for your home-bound flight. (B)
