History & Status

Kompas is an international travel corporation, maintaining the excellent tradition of a former Kompas Coach and Tourist company, founded in 1951. In 1991 the company was transformed into a shareholding company, the shareholders of which are predominantly the Kompas employees.


Organization & Network

Kompas consists of 20 companies, 6 representative offices and 1 franchise office, located in the heard of the most interesting markets and destinations in the world. Kompas International Travel Network is composed of 47 agencies in 20 countries around Europe, North America and Asia. A part of our international travel network is MOA, the Mediterranean Operators Association, specialized in destination management services in the leading Mediterranean destinations.

We are proud to say that the capital and the value of our company are 400 highly qualified and experienced professionals, which during high season this figure rises to well over 800 employees.


Activities

We are specialists in inbound and outbound travel in Central & Eastern Europe and beyond. Our main inbound markets are Croatia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Germany, Poland and France. Our main outbound markets are Slovenia, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, USA and Benelux. Our main activities are wholesaling and handling of package holidays and package tours, as well as the organization of congresses and conventions.
In Slovenia, Kompas is the market leader in tour-operating with 33% market share while Kompas share in the airline tickets sold through travel agencies is 50%.


Turnover and number of customers

In 2006 the total turnover of all Kompas companies was close to 200 M. €. About 18% of our turnover comes from the tour operating, 18% from retail, 15% from wholesaling of land packages and 49% from handling incoming arrangements. The number of our customers is permanently growing. In 2005 we were proud to handle almost 1.3 M. passengers, 640.000 in outgoing and 625.000 in incoming activities.
